The video work creates a fictional and surreal setting. Two trainees exercises practices of non-computability within a trainings camp of a visual resistance group. They test their possibilities for a fluid concept of identities and entities – against a static understanding of representation. An algorithm constantly scores their achievements. On their way, they encounter the genre of the road movie – a white and masculine narrative.
Within it‘s images and implications the women try to restrict and reinterpret their own legibility by ambiguities, imitations and senses apart from visuality.
This video was a cooperation between Charlotte Eifler, Katrin Esser and Maxi Richter as Director of Photography. The work was realized in summer 2017 at the baltic sea.

Charlotte Eifler:
works at the interface of film, sound and technology. In her videos and multimedia installations she interrogates the politics of representation, abstraction and computation. With a focus on feminist approaches and elements of science fiction Eifler explores processes of image production and imaginations of alternative futures. She holds an MA in theater and media studies and an MFA in Visual Art. Eifler studied at HGB Leipzig, Kunstakademie Duesseldorf and UDK Berlin.

Die Videoarbeit schafft ein fiktives und surreales Setting. Zwei Auszubildende üben Praktiken der Nicht-Berechenbarkeit innerhalb eines Trainingslagers einer visuellen Widerstandsgruppe. Sie testen ihre Möglichkeiten für ein fluides Konzept von Identitäten und Entitäten – gegen ein statisches Verständnis von Repräsentation. Ein Algorithmus bewertet ständig ihre Leistungen. Auf ihrem Weg begegnen sie dem Genre des Roadmovies – einer weißen und maskulinen Erzählung.
Innerhalb seiner Bilder und Implikationen versuchen die Frauen, ihre eigene Lesbarkeit durch Mehrdeutigkeiten, Nachahmungen und Sinne abseits der Visualität einzuschränken und umzudeuten.
